Girls Basketball: Dexter tops Reese to improve to 4-1 on the season

After losing their first game of the season, the Dexter girls’ basketball team has run off four consecutive wins, including Wednesday’s 48-24 win over Reese. The Dreadnaughts head to the holiday break with a 4-1 record including 2-0 in the SEC.

Host Reese took a 13-10 lead after the first quarter before Dexter cranked up the defense. The Dreads held Reese to just two points in the second quarter to take a 25-15 lead into halftime. Dexter outscored Reese 13-5 in the third quarter and 10-4 in the fourth.

Brianna Rodriguez led Dexter with 15 points including three triples in the first half. She made all four free-throw attempts in the fourth quarter.

Sydney Pnacek hit three triples in the second half and finished with 13 points. Alena Blumberg (two three-pointers) scored eight, Chloe Perry had six and Maddi Valentine scored five for Dexter.

The Dreadnaughts will play at Woodhaven at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 29 in the Carleton Airport Showcase.
