Ice Rink
With help from the recent frigid temperatures, the Ice Skating Rink in Monument Park is open!
Days and Hours:
Open daily from 8 am – 9 pm.
Rules & Regulations:
– Skate at your own risk; safety gear recommended; no skate attendant on duty; no hockey, sticks or pucks.
– Do not walk on gazebo with skates.
– For emergencies call 911.
– No trespassing when rink is closed.
– If you shovel snow off of the rink, please shovel it completely off to protect the ice surface.
Office Closure
City Offices will be closed on Monday, January 17, 2022 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Garbage/recycle collection will NOT be delayed and will occur on Monday, January 17, 2022.
What You Love About Dexter
The City’s Arts, Culture, and Heritage Committee has initiated a project to gather and display pieces of art created by the Dexter community for the Valentine’s Day holiday. Artists of all ages may submit a photograph, drawing, painting, song, poem, short story, etc. that represents what they love about Dexter. The goal of this project is to capture the unique character and beauty of our City to creatively display in businesses around town. Pieces should be submitted to the City Office, 8123 Main St., 2nd Floor, no later than Tuesday, February 1st at 5:00pm.
Visual and written work should not be bigger than 11″ x 14″ and include a tag with the artist’s name and the title of the work.
Videos (song or story) should be submitted as an mp4 or YouTube link to Jbreyer@dextermi.gov and should be no more than 3 minutes.
Bagged Leaf Collection
The Department of Public Works will collect bagged leaves on Wednesday, January 19th. This will be the last opportunity to have leaves collected this winter. No compost bags or leaves will be collected by the City or Waste Management in February or March. Waste Management will resume bagged compost pick up on Monday, April 4, 2022.
Snow Removal Reminders
During snow events, please note the following reminders:
Residents: Please clear your sidewalk of snow and ice within 48 hours of snow cessation.
Business owners: Please clear your sidewalks within 4 hours of snow cessation or by the start of your business day.
All: Please remove all cars from the street overnight. Please shovel snow onto your property – it is against City Ordinance to shovel the snow into the street or onto a neighbor’s property. We also request that you please help the fire department by making sure that fire hydrants around your home or business are cleared of snow, and are accessible and visible from the street as soon as possible after a snow storm. Every second counts in an emergency situation.
Temporary Road Closure
A City contractor is scheduled to perform a sanitary sewer main repair on Hudson St. between 3rd St. and 4th St. starting Tuesday, January 11th. This section of road will be closed to through traffic during the work. Work is anticipated to take two days.
