Competitive Cheer: Dexter finishes third at competitive Saline Invite; Middle School team lands first

The Dexter competitive cheer team made the short trip to Saline on Saturday to compete in the Saline Invitational. The Dreadnaughts competed in the Division 2 category with four other teams.

Riverview made the drip from Downriver, an area known for some of the best cheer teams in the state including defending champion Allen Park and Gibraltar Carlson. The Pirates finished first overall with 688.24 points.

New Boston Huron, another team from that same area, came in second with 680.48 points.

The Dreadnaughts had a strong showing and were right there with the top two teams from start to finish – in fact, Dexter outscored Huron in the opening round. The Dreadnaughts landed an impressive third with 673.66 points.

Dexter scored 211.60 in round one and 196.76 in round two for a 408.36 total after two rounds – higher than the Chiefs of New Boston. Dexter scored 265.30 in round three while Huron netted 274.70.

Saline scored 715.70 points to easily win the three-team D-1 event.

Dexter’s middle school team finished first out of 10 teams with 405.34 points.
