Competitive Cheer: Dreadnaughts flip to a second SEC meet title

The Dexter competitive cheer team went back-to-back at the SEC meets this season, winning their second one on Wednesday night at Chelsea High School.

The Dreadnaughts won the first SEC Invitational back on Jan. 5 at Tecumseh. They took first place in comfortable fashion over runner-up Chelsea at that first meet.

During Wednesday’s SEC II meet, Dexter returned to the top of the table again with Tecumseh grabbing second place and Chelsea third.

Dexter opened with 212.10, a point behind the Bulldogs, in round one. But Dexter scored 194.26 in round two to Chelsea’s 171.18. The Dreadnaughts outscored the Bulldogs 275.60 to 265.70 in the third round. Tecumseh scored 209.70 in round one, 178.54 in round two and 267.20 in round three.

Dexter finished with 681.96 points. Tecumseh was runner-up with 655.44 followed by Chelsea (650.08), Pinckney (613.34) and Adrian (515.66).
