Boys Basketball: Dreadnaughts hold on to knock off host Lincoln

The big win last week over Huron wouldn’t have meant as much had the Dreadnaughts struggled the next time they took the floor. Instead, the Dexter boys’ basketball team proved the win over the River Rats was no fluke as they knocked off a solid Lincoln team 52-48 on the road Tuesday night.

“This was a good win for us on the road as we had to battle through some foul trouble and found a way to get the job done,” said Dexter coach Jason Rushton.

It certainly wasn’t easy, but it certainly was impressive. Senior Cal Bavineau hit two big free throws with under 30 seconds left in the game to help send it into the win column.

Dexter led 15-12 after the first quarter and 27-25 at halftime.

The Dreads outscored the Rails 14-11 in the third quarter and Lincoln won the fourth quarter 12-11.

Evan Haroldson led Dexter with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Bavineau added 13 points (8 points from the free-throw line), 5 assists and 4 rebounds. Brennan Parachek had 9 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists.
