Around Town: Community Survey, Brush Chipping, Second Street Project, Student Representatives, more

Community Survey

The City of Dexter is seeking input from residents for our 2022 Community Survey. The survey covers a variety of topics, such as general services, trash collection, roads and sidewalks, public safety, and Parks. City residents have received, or will receive, a postcard with the same link to the survey that is provided here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DexSurvey. If you have any issues with accessing the online survey or if you would like to request a hard-copy of the survey, please contact the City Offices at 734-426-8303 or JTanghe@dextermi.gov.

Brush Chipping

Weekly brush chipping will begin on April 6th for brush piles that are set out to the curb on Wednesdays by 7:00am. During the spring and following heavy wind events, brush chipping may take an additional day due to the quantity of tree branches set-out to the curb. Brush set-out after 7:00am may not be picked-up until the following Wednesday. To see a video on how the City’s Department of Public Works employees chip brush, please visit the City’s YouTube page.

Yard Waste Collection

Weekly yard waste collection by Waste Management will start on Monday, April 4, 2022.

Second Street Water Main and Sidewalk Project

This spring, the City of Dexter will be performing water main replacement, storm water improvements, and sidewalk installation on Second St. between Central and Inverness. The project is anticipated to be substantially complete by July 2022. There will be road closures to through-traffic associated with this project, as it progresses.

Easter Eggstravaganza

The City of Dexter is proud to host the 12th annual Easter Eggstravaganza. From Friday, April 8th to Friday, April 22nd, the City’s Parks and Recreation Commission will hide large wooden eggs in each of the City’s parks. Each egg will have a letter written on the back. The letters from each park will form a word, and the words will form a phrase. You can use the clues provided in the form below to complete the word scramble. Completing a word (or the complete phrase) will allow you to claim a prize. Egg hunters should bring the form with a word (or the complete phrase) to the Dexter City Offices at 8123 Main St. between 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday to claim a prize.

The form containing the clues and word scramble is available on the City’s website at: dextermi.gov/Boards_Commissions/Parks_and_Recreation/Documents/2022_Egg_Hunt_Clues.pdf
