Ypsilanti – The Eastern Michigan University Foundation and the Hundley Foundation will host their inaugural Weekend with the Stars events that benefit the mission of both foundations. These events will be held on July 8 and 9 at the George Gervin GameAbove Center on EMU’s campus. Anyone planning to attend is required to purchase tickets for the celebrity-filled weekend events.
Attendees will join EMU officials, athletes, and celebrities, including one of HISTORY’s favorite Pawn Stars, Rick Harrison, owner of the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas, and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Brett Hundley, chairman of the Hundley Foundation. The weekend kicks off with a Friday evening fundraising dinner and program at EMU’s George Gervin GameAbove Center with special guests.
On Saturday morning, participants are invited to meet Harrison and have him appraise their items at EMU’s George Gervin GameAbove Center. Attendees will have the opportunity to showcase their prized possessions for a chance to be featured in an upcoming episode of Pawn Stars.
“I’m thrilled to visit EMU and meet supporters of the University and the Hundley Foundation. We believe in putting the ‘fun’ in fundraising and maybe to find a few cool items for the show,” said Harrison.
The television show, HISTORY’s Pawn Stars, has entertained households since 2009. Harrison’s dedication to an always evolving and entertaining reality show is matched only by his passion for worthy causes such as the Hundley Foundation whose mission is to improve the lives of children and families in need. Rick’s involvement with a previous non-profit led to him and Brett Hundley joining efforts for many events around the country including this one benefitting EMU and Brett’s foundation.
The Hundley Foundation has created and supported several initiatives, programs, paid internships, and financial scholarships. Bettering the lives of those most in need is paramount in all the foundation’s efforts to raise money and awareness in support of its mission. “I’m truly happy that Rick could join me for these special events at EMU benefitting my foundation and the University. It’s awesome to see how excited people are to meet him and see he is as authentic in real life as he is on Pawn Stars,” said Hundley. “I am beyond grateful to the University for hosting us and look forward to meeting our supporters in the Metro-Detroit community,” he added.
