Boys Cross Country: Dexter finishes sixth at competitive SEC Jamboree 1  

The Chelsea boys’ cross country team took first place at the first SEC Jamboree on Wednesday at Ella Sharp Park in Jackson. In a very competitive race, the Bulldogs crossed first with 74 points, only seven points ahead of Saline. Adrian was third (82) and Pinckney fourth (90).

Pioneer crossed fifth (114), Dexter was sixth (154) and Skyline was seventh (190). Huron finished ninth with 218 points.

Two juniors led the Pioneers with Vincent Peterson Sand finishing 13th in 16:38.0 and Aaron Sterken finishing 20th in 17:00.9. Seniors Roman Cortina (25th, 17:10.7), Andrew Grier (27th, 17:18.9) and Thomas Kerber (29th, 17:19.7) cracked the top 30.

Also running strong for the Pioneers were Eric Overdier (38th, 17:38.0), Nathan Milliman (39th, 17:40.1), Chase Klapthor (41st, 17:50.0), Matt Dombrowski (42nd, 17:51.1) and Liam Bredeweg (48th, 18:00.7).

Dexter junior Brandon Anderson had an excellent run for the Dreadnaughts. A state qualifier last year, Anderson finished sixth in 16:02.2. Senior Owen Ackerman was 16th in 16:51.3 for the Dreads. Also running strong for Dexter were Sam Gibson (36th, 17:31.4), Caleb Snyder (51st, 18:03.1), Rylan Teddy (53rd, 18:05.8), Luke Dudash (55th, 18:10.5), Scott Smith (59th, 18:15.6), Alex Hoffman (62nd, 18:27.3), Kaden Jensen (80th, 18:48.2) and Cole Doty (86th, 19:04.1).

Skyline senior Nicolas Fry had another strong race, finishing third overall with a time of 15:57.6. Fellow senior Christopher Van Lent cracked the top 20 with his 18th place finish in 16:55.0. Also running strong for the Eagles were Paul Minock (40th, 17:49.5), Mason Jett (70th, 18:35.7), Soren Nielsen (77th, 18:43.1), Bruno Cifaldi (82nd, 18:51.1) and Leland Weiser (97th, 20:02.3).

Huron senior Adam Bigelow finished 30th in 17:22.0 to lead the River Rats. Lucas Weintraub was 35th in 17:28.8, Walker Brose was 49th in 18:02.1 and Henry Beard was 57th in 18:13.7 for Huron. Also running strong for the River Rats were Liam Ridenour (64th, 18:29.0), Jamal (Max) Samaha (65th, 18:31.0), Devin Saxon (73rd, 18:40.1), Aidan Behmer (85th, 18:59.3), Thomas (TJ) Conley     (87th, 19:09.0) and Jonah Kraft (90th, 19:31.8).
