Field Hockey: Dexter knocks off Chelsea to improve to 6-1 on the season

The Dexter field hockey team improved to 6-1 on the season with an impressive 3-0 win over rival Chelsea on Monday.

Dexter scored a first-period goal and then put the game away with a pair of goals in the third period. The Dreadnaughts had 16 shots on goal compared to just two for the Bulldogs. Dexter’s Analisa Leadbetter had the shutout in goal.

Alli St. Amour took five shots for the Dreadnaughts and scored on two of them to lead the offense. Aiden Weinmann had a goal and an assist for the Dreads. Sophie Alabre also had an assist.

Dexter played Wednesday (9-21) at Pioneer in a tough league match. Both teams came into that match with one loss each – both to defending state champion Skyline.

Dexter lost 1-0 to Skyline on Sept. 14. They have outscored their other opponents 34-1, having allowed only two goals in seven games.
