Boys Cross Country: Skyline wins Jackson Invite, Dreads run ninth

The Skyline boys’ cross country team finished first on Saturday at the Jackson Invitational and two other local teams crossed in the top 10 among the 22-team field. The Eagles landed with 124 points to take first in the Orange Division race. Plymouth was second with 143, followed by Traverse City Central (149) and Romeo (155).

Pioneer finished fifth with 159 points and Dexter was ninth with 218.

Skyline senior Nicolas Fry finished second overall with a time of 15 minutes, 39.6 seconds. Plymouth’s Sean Byrnes was first in 15:33.3.

The Eagles had three other runners land in the top 20: senior Christopher Van Lent (11th, 15:56.7), junior Luke Suliman (15th, 16:01.0) and junior Mason Jett (19th, 16:07.0). Senior Aidan Hale was 78th (17:15.6), senior Soren Nielsen was 121st (18:03.2) and freshman Bruno Cifaldi was 123rd (18:05.7).

A trio of juniors led the Pioneers with Vincent Peterson Sand finishing 24th (16:20.7), Eric Overdier 25th (16:22.2) and Aaron Sterken 34th (16:37.4). A group of seniors followed with Roman Cortina 37th (16:41.0), Andrew Grier 39th (16:43.5), Thomas Kerber 45th (16:47.9), Chase Klapthor 70th (17:09.2) and Nathan Milliman 77th (17:15.4). Junior Liam Bredeweg was 84th (17:21.4) and freshman Beckett Crooks was 88th (17:23.8).

Junior Brandon Anderson led the Dexter runners with his fourth-place time of 15:41.3. Senior Owen Ackerman was 30th (16:30.7), junior Sam Gibson was 51st (16:52.5) and sophomore Caleb Snyder was 52nd (16:55.3). Senior Alex Hoffman was 82nd (17:18.3), freshman Luke Dudash was 95th (17:31.6) and senior Rylan Teddy was 118th (18:00.5).
