Chelsea Education Foundation (CEF) and the Educational Foundation of Dexter (EFD) will once again go head to head to raise money for educational grants in their respective communities. The fundraising kicks off Oct. 1, 2022, and will culminate at halftime during the Oct. 21 Dexter vs Chelsea football game at Jerry Niehaus Field in Chelsea.
In 2019, the friendly “Rivalry Match” raised over $10,000 for the 501(c)3 non-profits. It was a close match, with the EFD walking away with bragging rights after raising $5,044. The Teams skipped 2020 and picked up again in 2021. While the match was close, this time, CEF won bragging rights, raising $24,099 to EFD’s $21,563 and together they raised $45,662! Both games were held in Dexter!
This year’s Rivalry Match has Dexter traveling to Chelsea to face them on their turf.
The Educational Foundation of Dexter (EFD) is busy preparing for another successful year, full of exciting events. EFD was able to approve $76,520.39 in educational grant funding during the 2021-22 school year, and DCS teachers & staff have started submitting new grants for 2022-23. Please join us in making a difference for Dexter students this year!
Since 1985, the Educational Foundation of Dexter has awarded over $1million in teacher/district grants that support students from Pre-K to 12th Grade in the Dexter Community Schools. Previously funded grants include Digital Cameras for DHS Art Dept., Drones for Mill Creek Flight Class, Horse Therapy for Mill Creek Students with Special Needs, Periodicals for Wylie Library, Emergent Reader Books for Anchor and Beacon Reading Specialist, and support for “Dread Strong” Summer Camp.

- Fundraising competition between the Educational Foundation of Dexter and Chelsea Education Foundation. Starts on 10/1 and ends 10/21 at the Dexter vs Chelsea football game in Chelsea.
- Sponsors needed by 9/30.
- Auction (March)
- Sponsorship details are TBD. Sponsors needed in January.
- Opportunity to partner with EFD as a matching funds donor for Giving Tuesday (November 29th). This will help inspire others to give and matching funds donor(s) will be recognized through EFD promoting the fundraising campaign.
- Match amount is determined by donor with a suggested minimum of $500.
- Contact EFD by November 15th to be a matching funds donor for Giving Tuesday.
- A charitable donation to EFD any time of the year or for one of the various fundraising campaigns (Rivalry Match, Giving Tuesday, etc).
- Donations to EFD for The Rivalry Match can be made starting 10/1/22 until halftime of the Dexter vs Chelsea football game on 10/21.
- DONATE to EFD RIVALRY MATCH
- Donation of goods or services for our EFD annual auction.
- The auction will be online in March. Donations are needed by 3/1/23.
