Swimming: Dreads splash past Jackson; Senior Night is Thursday

The Dexter swimming and diving team defeated Jackson 142-22 in an SEC matchup on Tuesday. The Dreads won all three relays and every individual race. The final dual-meet for the season is Thursday (10/20) against Monroe and will be Senior Night at Wylie Community Pool.

The HS team truly appreciated support from Dexter Community Aquatic Club as they came out for “pack the stands” night and cheered on the team.

And they had plenty to cheer.

Dexter’s medley relay team of Harper Brown, Lily Witte, Delaney Parker and Marea Balcom took first in 1:55.40.

Jillian Kinnard won the 200 free (2:05.51) with Laura Walton second (2:09.14) and Emma Bishop third (2:15.66). Parker won the 200 IM in 2:21.59 and Rebekah Murillo was second in 2:37.63.

Dexter swept the 50 free with Witte first (26.12), Balcom second (26.66) and Grace McClellan third (27.39).

Witte came close to breaking her own pool record as the senior diver finished first with 311.50 points. Vivian Kinnard was an awesome second with 273.20 points.

Brown won the 100 butterfly in 1:06.78 and Martina Mijares was third in 1:17.88.

Dexter swept the 100 free with Balcom first (58.18), Bishop second (59.74) and McClellan third (1:00.61).

Walton went 5:41.43 to win the 500 free for the Dreadnaughts. Diem Lee was second for Dexter in 5:59.48.

Dexter’s 200 free relay team of Witte, Parker, Balcom and Jillian Kinnard won in 1:47.83.

Dexter’s Brown won the backstroke in 1:05.80 and Murillo was third in 1:10.95.

The Dreads swept the breaststroke with Parker first (1:13.06), Natalie Koenn second (1:15.41) and Annie Ralls third (1:27.09).

Dexter’s 400 free relay team of Walton, Jillian Kinnard, McClellan and Brown touched first in 4:06.40. The team of Bishop, Murillo, Diem Lee and Addy Arbour was second in 4:19.36.
