Volleyball: Playoffs begin this week with Skyline, Lincoln hosting Districts

It’s the time of year where high school volleyball teams spike up the intensity. The playoffs begin this week on the road to Battle Creek’s Kellogg Arena, which will serve as host for the semifinals and championship Nov. 17-19.

The ninth-ranked Skyline Eagles will look to fly out of Districts this week during the opening of the MHSAA volleyball playoffs. Skyline, which will host Districts, will take its 37-7 overall record into the postseason.

Led by senior Harper Murray, who has already committed to Nebraska, the Eagles get a bye in the first round and will face South Lyon in the semifinals at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. South Lyon finished fifth in their league this past season.

Pioneer will play Dexter in the District’s only opening-round match at 5 p.m. on Monday. The two SEC Red Division teams will play at Skyline. The winner will play at 7 p.m. on Wednesday against South Lyon East, also at Skyline.

The championship game is at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Huron is headed to the Lincoln District and will play a first-round game against Ypsilanti Community at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. The winner will play Lincoln at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The other semifinal will feature state-ranked Saline vs. Belleville. The finals are at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
