Swimming AND Diving: Dreadnaughts sending boat load of athletes to State Finals

Members of the Dexter swimming and diving team will head to Calvin University this weekend (Nov. 18-19) for the Division 2 MHSAA State Finals. And the Dreadnaughts are bringing plenty of athletes to the biggest meet of the season.

Dexter’s divers dominated at Regionals at Fenton HS on Nov. 10. Lily Witte won the event with 513.35 points, the highest score out of all 5 Regions, and set a new 11 dive Fenton pool record, new Dexter Varsity Record and new Region 5 Meet record.

Vivian Kinnard also had a great night on the board, earning second place with 423.50 points. Sefina Patterson placed 12th with 297.15 and Bella Larson was 17th with 280.65 as Dexter showed both front-line excellence and incredible depth.

Witte, Kinnard and Patterson all qualified to dive at the Division 2 State Meet.

Witte also qualified to swim the 50 free event and will be joined by other individual event qualifiers: Harper Brown (200 free, 100 breaststroke), Delaney Parker (200 IM, 100 breaststroke), Natalie Koenn (200 IM), Marea Balcom (50 free, 100 free), and Laura Walton (500 free) plus relay team members: Emma Bishop, Sydney Collins and Grace McClellan.
