Recording Secretary

The City of Dexter is recruiting for the position of Recording Secretary. The Recording Secretary will be responsible for attending City Council and Planning Commission meetings and producing written minutes of the meetings. Regular City Council meetings are held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month starting at 7:00 pm, and regular Planning Commission meetings are held on the first Monday of each month starting at 7:00 pm. These boards occasionally hold special meetings, and the Recording Secretary’s attendance at these meetings is desired, but not mandatory. The Recording Secretary is paid at a rate of $90 per meeting, including special meetings. Examples of prior City Council minutes (expected work product) is available on the City’s website at: https://www.dextermi.gov/government/cc.php. Luminaria

The Dexter Luminaria is in its 2022 fundraising campaign. The Luminaria Project provides for the delivery of supplies to light-up rights-of-way in the evening of December 24th.

The Luminaria is funded and executed through generous donations from the community. Please keep the lights shining – consider make a donation to support the Luminaria by mailing or dropping off your contribution to the City of Dexter at 8123 Main (please indicate Luminaria on the check). Donations can also be made at through GoFundMe at: https://gofund.me/d641578d .

Leaf Collection

Collection of loose leaf piles in the City is finished for the season. Bagged leaves will be picked-up by the DPW on December 21st, January 4th, and January 18th. This is to accommodate the residents whose trees lose their leaves late in the season.

No compost bag or leaf pick-up by the City or Waste Management will occur in February or March.

Monday, April 3, 2023 – Bagged compost collection resumes.

Board/Committee Openings

The Parks & Recreation Commission is seeking one new members. The Parks & Recreation Commission meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm and is a 9 member commission that is responsible for making recommendations to City Council on the planning and development of City parks.

The Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee is looking for one new member to join the committee. The Committee meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm and is an 11-member group that advises City Council on the development of arts, culture and heritage; hosts and promotes projects that support arts, culture and heritage; serves as advocates; and encourages networking and collaborations of the arts, culture, and heritage of the City of Dexter.
