Holiday Office Closures

The City Offices will be closed for the holidays on the following days:
– Friday, December 30, 2022
– Monday, January 2nd, 2023

Residential Trash Collection

Residential trash/recycle collection will not be impacted by the holiday and will occur on Monday, January 2nd as normal.

Luminaries on 12/31/22

The Dexter luminary kits have been distributed for use on New Years Eve, Saturday, December 31st. The Dexter Luminary Project team looks forward to lighting the town on 12/31/22.

Ice Rink

The ice rink in Monument Park has been installed. Opening day will be announced in a future e-mail update and on the City’s Facebook page. Unfortunately, the ice rink has not yet reached the thickness needed to open the rink. Please do not use the rink until it has been officially opened to avoid damaging the liner.

Recording Secretary Job Opening

The City of Dexter is recruiting for the position of Recording Secretary. The Recording Secretary will be responsible for attending City Council and Planning Commission meetings and producing written minutes of the meetings. Regular City Council meetings are held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month starting at 7:00 pm, and regular Planning Commission meetings are held on the first Monday of each month starting at 7:00 pm. These boards occasionally hold special meetings, and the Recording Secretary‘s attendance at these meetings is desired, but not mandatory. The Recording Secretary is paid at a rate of $90 per meeting, including special meetings. Tax Bill Due Date Reminder

For City of Dexter residents, winter tax bills have been mailed. Tax payments are due on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 by 5:00pm. Taxes paid after the due are subject to a 1% per month penalty. Delinquent parcels paid between February 16th and February 28th will be assessed an additional 3% penalty. After February 28th, unpaid real property taxes are turned over to the Washtenaw County Treasurer for collection.

Board/Committee Openings

The Parks & Recreation Commission is seeking one new member. The Parks & Recreation Commission meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm and is a 9 member commission that is responsible for making recommendations to City Council on the planning and development of City parks.

The Zoning Board of Appeals is seeking one new member to serve as an alternate on the Board. The ZBA meets as needed on the third Monday of the month at 7:00 pm to decide on requests for variances from the Zoning Ordinance.
