Washtenaw County Health Officer Begins Three-Year Term on Trinity Health Ann Arbor board

YPSILANTI – Jimena Loveluck, Washtenaw County Health Officer, has been appointed to the Trinity Health Ann Arbor and Livingston Board of Directors.  Loveluck, whose nomination was formally approved by the Board in November 2022, began serving her three-year term earlier this month.

The Trinity Health Ann Arbor and Livingston Board includes representation from physicians, community and business leaders throughout Washtenaw and Livingston counties.  Loveluck’s appointment, along with the Board’s current membership, strengthens each hospital’s focus on advancing their community health and wellbeing strategies.

With community engagement at the forefront, the Board also works with hospital executives to provide guidance and oversight of clinical quality, patient safety, patient experience, and overall organizational performance.

“Jimena brings with her a deep understanding of the communities we serve and a familiarity with the needs of local residents who use our medical services,” said Alonzo Lewis, president of Trinity Health Ann Arbor and Trinity Health Livingston. “She is a smart and dedicated public servant and we are fortunate to have her on our team. We will look to her experience and leadership in the coming years as we work to advance our mission of being a transforming, healing presence for patients and their families.”

Loveluck has been working in public health for more than 30 years and has expertise in health equity, HIV prevention and care, harm reduction, community engagement and community-based participatory research. As Health Officer, she leads the health department’s work to promote health and prevent disease and injury in the community.  She leads on a wide range of health-related programs and services and serves as the health authority for Washtenaw County.  Loveluck has spearheaded the health department’s COVID-19 response, overseeing all aspects of pandemic work, including equitably administering vaccines, monitoring local data, supporting COVID-positive residents, sharing current information, and more.

Prior to becoming Health Officer in September 2019, she served for two years as the health department’s first Deputy Health Officer, where she led initiatives to combat the opioid crisis, integrate public health services, and promote health equity. She was the President/CEO of the HIV/AIDS Resource Center in Ypsilanti and led the merger with AIDS Partnership Michigan in 2015.

“We have a long history of successful partnership with Trinity Health,” says Loveluck. “I look forward to continuing our collaborations with this more formal role and strengthening the connection between public health and the health system.”
