Girls Basketball: Dexter “fouls out” in tough loss at Bedford

The Dexter girls’ basketball team played a rollercoaster game with visiting Bedford on Tuesday night and when the ride stopped, the Kicking Mules were the ones in the win column. Bedford scored a 46-38 win over Dexter in the SEC contest.

Fourteen of Bedford’s 20 fourth-quarter points came from the free-throw line. The Kicking Mules scored 19 second-half points from the free-throw line compared to just two for Dexter.

Alena Blumberg led Dexter with 13 points, which included three triples and seven points in the fourth quarter. Heidi Fuchs scored six points in the first quarter and finished with 10. Senior Chloe Perry scored all eight of her points in the first half. And Addison Chase had seven points for Dexter.

Bedford led 14-10 after the first quarter but managed just one point in the second quarter. Dexter put up 11 points to take a 21-15 halftime lead.

But the Kicking Mules outscored the Dreadnaughts 11-5 in the third quarter to tie the game at 26-26 after three. Bedford outscored Dexter 20-12 in the final quarter.
