Swimming: Dreadnaughts race past Lincoln in SEC dual-meet

After a rough stretch against some strong competition, including meets with two defending state champions, the Dexter boys’ and swimming team returned to the win column. The Dreadnaughts defeated host Lincoln 131-50 in an SEC Red dual-meet.

The Dexter team of Matthew Resende, Grady Wheeler, Lucas Greatorex and Jude Smith opened the meet with a first-place time of 1:51.93 in the medley relay. Dexter also took second in 1:55.11 with the team of Eric Smaby, Chance McArtor, Dane Lee and Jack Haidl.

Liam MacNeil won the 200 free in 2:02.63 with Travis Fitch in second in 2:04.76. 

Dexter took the top three spots in the IM with Smaby first (2:15.73), Smith second (2:19.00) and Wheeler third (2:22.3).

Greatorex won the 50 free in 24.33. Owen Ragnes was third in 24.58.

Dexter’s Branden Anderson won diving with 185.4 points. Gerzon Herter was third with 163.4 points.

Dane Lee took second in the butterfly in 1:02.66. Smaby was third (1:05.39).

Resende won the 100 free in 50.78. Haidl was third (53.67).

Dylan O’Connor won the 500 free in 4:59.8. McArtor was third (5:37.54).

Dexter’s 200 free relay team of Wheeler, Ragnes, Smaby and O’Connor was first in 1:39.32. The team of MacNeil, Fitch, Ben Alekseev and McArtor was second in 1:45.85.

Resende won the backstroke in 1:00.63. Lee was third in 1:09.46.

Haidl won the breaststroke in 1:14.35 with Greatorex in a very close second in 1:14.59.

Dexter’s 400 free relay team of Smith, O’Connor, Resende and Greatorex touched first in 3:37.13. 

 

 

Dexter hosts Monroe in a dual-meet on Thursday in the team’s final dual-meet of the season.
