Defense was on full display Tuesday night as Dexter hosted Lincoln in an SEC boys’ basketball game that required extra time to decide a winner.
Both teams scored 40 points over the first four quarters before Lincoln outscored Dexter 9-7 in the overtime period to score the win.
“It was a defensive battle all night and we came up short in OT,” said Dexter coach Jason Rushton.
Dexter jumped out to a 17-9 first-quarter lead and led 30-23 at halftime. But Lincoln outscored Dexter 9-7 in the third quarter and 8-3 in the fourth quarter to push the game into overtime.
AJ Vaughn led Dexter with 14 points. Evan Haroldson had 10 points and 7 rebounds and Reeves Taylor added 8 points and 8 rebounds.
