Boys Basketball: Eagles knock off Dreadnaughts in SEC Red clash

The Skyline boys’ basketball team continues to play at a high level and took care of a strong Dexter team 68-44 Thursday night at Dexter. The Eagles had six players score seven or more points in the win.

Skyline’s offense came out strong and took an 18-9 lead after the first quarter. Ben Stille scored nine points in the opening period for the visiting Eagles.

Skyline outscored Dexter 12-8 in the second period to take a 30-17 halftime lead.

The Eagles went on a 14-11 run in the third quarter and pulled away with a 24-16 fourth quarter.

Stille finished with a game-high 19 points including three triples. Pete Roebuck and Ben Soloman each scored nine for the Eagles and Sam Koelling and Ish Abdul-Aziz each had eight points. Jayden Potts had seven points.

Evan Haroldson led Dexter with 12 points and 6 rebounds. AJ Vaughn and Xavier Blumberg each added 8 points. Jack DeMerell chipped in with 7 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Dreadnaughts host Monroe on Tuesday. The Eagles have a rematch with the River Rats at Huron on Tuesday.
