Boys Basketball: Dreadnaughts top Monroe, head to Chelsea on Friday

The Dexter boys’ basketball team picked the right time to get back on the winning track with an impressive 50-33 win Tuesday night over visiting Monroe. The Dreadnaughts will head to Chelsea on Friday night now with a little confidence as they look to even up the season series with the rival Bulldogs.

Dexter has a lot to be proud of tonight,” said Dexter Coach Jason Rushton. “We won in front of the staff that inspires our young student-athletes. They do so much to support our program’s players, we were happy to honor them tonight.”

The game started a few short hours after senior Evan Haroldson made his commitment to play at the next level for NAIA powerhouse Indiana Tech. Haroldson responded with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists.

Senior Reeves Taylor also chipped in with 12 points of his own in front of his honorary staff member, Coach (Phil) Jacobs.

Garrett Sharp, Xavier Blumberg and AJ Vaughn all scored seven for the Dreads.

Dexter led 18-11 after the first quarter and 36-19 at halftime.
