Easter Eggstravaganza

Egg Scramble

The Dexter Parks & Recreation Commission will be holding its annual Easter Eggstravaganza Egg Scramble on Saturday, April 8th in Community Park on Ryan Dr. Check-in will begin at 9:00am, with the scrambles beginning at 10:00am. Children 0 to 10 are invited to participate, with the kids being split into three groups, 0-3, 4-6, 7-10. Children will be able to get prizes, get their face painted, and meet the Easter Bunny!

Tickets are currently on sale at the new Dexter City Hall located at 3515 Broad Street. Tickets are $2/child or $5/family with 3 or more children. Tickets will be available day-of, but pre-purchase is highly appreciated in order to estimate attendance. Additional parking will be made available in the Dexter Crossing Plaza (near Noble Appliance and Dollar Tree).

Riddle Hunt

Another part of the Easter Eggstravaganza will be the Riddle Hunt, which will begin Saturday, March 25th. To participate, go to dextermi.gov/government/boards_and_commissions/pr.php and download the Riddle Hunt sheet (which will be available online on March 25th). Using the clues on the riddle sheet, families will track down a hidden Easter Egg in each of the City’s seven parks that will have a word printed on the back. Using the words, you will create a secret Easter phrase that you can bring back to City Hall (3515 Broad Street) to claim a prize! The last day to bring back the phrase will be Friday, April 7th.

Utility Bills and Automatic Payment

City staff has been made aware that physical utility bills were generated and mailed to residents that are registered for automatic payments. These statements were mailed in error, and will not impact those residents that are on automatic/electronic payments. If you have registered for automatic payments, the automatic payment will be processed as normal.

The City of Dexter has partnered with Invoice Cloud to manage online, automatic, and phone payments for taxes and utility bills. Through Invoice Cloud, residents can:

  • Receive bills, reminders and receipts via email.
  • Set up AutoPay and paperless billing
  • Make payments online, by phone (utilities only), or by text with a credit card, debit card, e-check, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
  • Control the timing of payments by setting a schedule for future dates.

To access Invoice Cloud and create an account:

  1. Visit Dextermi.gov
  2. Select “Online Payments”
  3. Go to the payment portal and enter your parcel or account number, which will be located on your utility bill.
  4. Set up an account to view history, set paperless billing and to store payment options.

Hydrant Flushing

City Utility Department staff have started the process of flushing hydrants throughout the City. The schedule for week one of the flushing is as follows:

Industrial Park, Walkabout Creek, Dexter Crossing, Dexter Schools

As crews flush hydrants there may be some discoloration of the water. Residents who experience “rust colored” water should simply run the cold water tap for a few minutes to clear the household pipes.  The rust coloring is caused by a natural buildup of minerals in the water system, which are stirred up in the water pipes when fire hydrants are first turned on.  If possible, try to avoid washing white clothes during this time. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Utility Department at 734-426-4572 during the hours of 7:00 am and 3:30 pm. Thank you for your cooperation during this effort to maintain the quality of your water system.

Yard Waste Collection
