Dance Marathon raises more than $190K for U-M Health C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital

ANN ARBOR –  Dance Marathon at the University of Michigan (DMUM) held their twenty-sixth annual Victorthon event Saturday, April 1 – Sunday, April 2 at Oosterbaan Field House. Victorthon is the culmination of a year’s worth of fundraising and where over 100 students from the University of Michigan stood for 24-hours in support of the Little Victors at Mott! There were over 550 students and members of the community in attendance overall. Through their efforts, DMUM raised a yearly total of $192,603 for pediatric therapies at the University of Michigan Health C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital.

“We want to thank DMUM for their unwavering dedication to pediatric therapies at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital,” said Luanne Thomas Ewald, chief operating officer of University of Michigan Health C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital. “They continue to make a tremendous impact on our patients and families which enables us to offer therapies that allow kids to be kids.”

With live performances from numerous student groups, food and snacks sponsored from local Ann Arbor businesses, trivia, carnival games, and more, DMUM brought together the entire community to support the patients and families at Mott.

Ann Gladstone, Fundraising Events Chair, said “being on LineDance dancing at VictorThon experience has been the highlight of my Victorthon experience. I am so grateful to be able to share my passion for this organization in such a fun and exciting way… This experience truly bonded us”.

Throughout the course of this year, DMUM has held numerous fundraising and engagement events which were made possible by the generosity of Kroger, Delta Airlines and the University of Michigan Credit Union.

“Planning the fist in-person, 24-hour VictorThon since 2019 has been such a rewarding and honorable experience,” said University of Michigan senior and DMUM Planning Director, Emma Curran. “I am lucky enough to have had such a great planning team who has been so supportive and helpful throughout this entire experience”.

DMUM will continue to raise critical funds for pediatric therapies at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital again next year, culminating with the twenty-seventh VictorThon in March 2024. For more information, you can visit dmum.org.
