Track & Field: Dexter, Pioneer both shine in SEC Tri-Meet

The Dexter track & field team traveled down to Temperance on Monday to compete in a double dual competition with Temperance Bedford and Ann Arbor Pioneer.

On the boys’ side of the track, Dexter defeated Bedford 71-66 but fell to Pioneer 101-36. In the girls’ meet, Dexter knocked off Bedford 85-50 but lost to the talented Pioneers 102-35.

Boys meet

Dexter’s Keaton Murphy-Walstad placed 3rd in the 100m, with a time of 11.92 and won the Long Jump at 20’4”. In the 4oom, Alex Hoffman placed 2nd at 53.83, Caleb Snyder was 3rd in the 3200 with a time of 10:20.94, and Brandon Anderson was 3rd in the open 800m with 2:01.85. Anderson was also a member of 2 relay teams that placed.

The 4×400 was 2nd. (Anderson, Alex Hoffman, Julian Linebaugh, and Owen Ackerman) at 3:40.49, and the 4×800 was 2nd as well (Ackerman, Anderson, Sam Gibson, and Snyder) at 8:52.20. The 4×200 won (Owen Waters, Alex Hoffman, Elijah Smith, Noah Boyce) with a finish of 1:39.08.

Field events saw Ryan Kerr tied for 1st in the High Jump at 5’8”, Keaton Murphy-Walstad winning the Long Jump at 20’4”, and a sweep in the Pole Vault with Clark Sheldon winning at 13’6”, Benjamin Sackman 2nd at 13’0”, and Kaden Korck 3rd at 13”0” as well.

Pioneer also had many strong performances.

Justin Pacernick won both the 200 (23.17) and the 400 (52.17). Freshman Sabi Simwenyi was second in both the 100 meters (11.51) and 200 (23.75). The Pioneers went one-two in the 800 with Thomas Kerber (2:00.23) and Eric Overdier (2:01.34). Overdier also won the 1600 in 4:28.11 with Kerber second in 4:29.48.

Henry LiPuma won the 3200 meters in 10:20.44 with Nathan Milliman second (10:20.63).

The Pioneers won the 4×100 relay (46.70), 4×800 relay (8:38.99) and the 4×400 relay (3:36.43).

Pioneer’s Ire Odetola won the shot put (44-6). They went one-two in the high jump with Sebastian Coen (5-8) and Nelson Sompa (5-8).

Girls meet

In the sprints for the Girls, Chloe Burns took 2nd in the 200m with 27.63, and Lillian Mitchell was 3rd in the 400m with 1:05.00. The 3200 saw Annabel O’Haver take 2nd with a time of 12:13.35

Three relays placed with the 4x2oo in 2nd (Mikala Sposito, Debbie McCoy, Raiden Kipfmiller, Chloe Burns) at 1:50.41, and the 4x400m taking second as well with a time of 4:25.00 (Addison Bruckman, Chloe Burns, Lillian Mitchell, Maddie Rokke-Smith). The 4×800 was 2nd (Mitchell, O’Haver, Bruckman, and Rokke-Smith) at 10:23.01.

Rounding out the field events, in the Shot Put Lily Burns was 2nd at 31’0”, and Lily Trinkle was 3rd in the Discus with 85’1”. Dexter placed 2 in the High Jump, with Simone Kasischke winning at 4’8” and teammate Tia Schultz taking second also at 4’8”. Finally in the Pole Vault Raiden kipfmiller won with a vault of 10’6”, and Debbie McCoy was 3rd at 9’0”.

For the Pioneers, Mahawa Kaba sprinted to first place in the 100 meters in 12.77 and Maya Rollins won the 200 (26.13) and the 100 hurdles (14.53).  Sylvia Sanok Dufallo won the 400 (1:01.06), Emily Cooper won the 800 (2:18.64) and Rachel Forsyth won the 1600 (4:57.11). Natalie Mello won the 3200 meters in 11:25.44. Rachel Sprauer won the 300 hurdles in 54.68.

The Pioneers ran first in the 4×100 relay (51.60), 4×200 relay (1:47.13), 4×400 relay (4:09.94) and 4×800 relay (9:11.25).

Yenia Han won both the shot put (36-6) and the discus (86-10.5). Sadie Olson won the long jump (14-10.75).

The Dreadnaughts resume action this Saturday, traveling to Allen Park to compete in the Allen Park Co-Ed Relays. The Pioneers head the other way, to the Lansing Catholic Relays.
