Pioneer’s A Cappella Choir is named the Michigan School Vocal Music Association 2023 Outstanding Choir

The  Pioneer High School A Cappella Choir has been designated through blind audition as the Michigan School Vocal Music Association 2023 Outstanding Choir.  Only two choirs from across the state are given this distinction, which represents the highest level of recognition by our state organization, and is equivalent to a state championship.  The choir will perform in the MSVMA All-State Gala Concert in East Lansing on May 11.

This is the fifth time that the A Cappella Choir has received this distinction (2014, 2015, 2019, 2022, & 2023), and the third year in a row, as it was not awarded in 2020 or 2021.

MSVMA All-State Festival Gala Concert will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 11 at Fairchild Theatre, Michigan State University, 542 Auditorium Rd, East Lansing.

Additionally, the Connor Casey ’23 & Megan Gottfried ’23 Duet was selected as the top small ensemble at State Solo & Ensemble – South Site.  They are recognized as one of the top four small ensembles, state-wide, and will perform at the MSVMA All-State Outstanding Solo & Ensemble Recital on Friday, May 12 at Cook Recital Hall in the MSU Music Building, 333 W Circle Dr., East Lansing. (Time is yet to be announced.)

Concerts are free and open to the public. No tickets are needed, and they will be live-streamed on the MSVMA Facebook page.
