Ypsilanti Symphony Orchestra (YSO) celebrates conclusion of a successful 2022-23 season May 27

Adam C. Riccinto and the Ypsilanti Symphony Orchestra (YSO) will celebrate the conclusion of a successful 2022-23 season with their much anticipated, annual “Pops in the Park!” concert over Memorial Day weekend. The free outdoor concert will be held at Ypsilanti’s Riverside Park Pavilion at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, with a rain date of Sunday, May 28. Music lovers of all ages are invited to bring a chair or blanket and celebrate the start of summer as they enjoy a concert of popular and family-friendly favorites. The orchestra will also be joined by special guests and audience favorite, Gemini. The Ann Arbor-based duo, consisting of brothers Sandor and Lazlo Slomovits, has been performing as Gemini since 1973, playing music from all over the world and engaging audiences of enthusiastic children and families throughout the US and Canada. They also perform with Sandor’s daughter Emily as “Gemily” (Gemini + Emily), offering a wide range of traditional and contemporary folk, jazz, and classical music for all ages.

“The Ypsilanti Symphony Orchestra is looking forward to celebrating the end of another fantastic season by sharing music in the park with our community,” said Music Director Adam C. Riccinto. “And we are excited to welcome back Gemini, a big favorite with our audiences both young and old, and a frequent partner at our May outdoor concerts. Come join us for this Memorial Day weekend tradition!”

The YSO will perform “Pops in the Park!” on Saturday, May 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the Riverside Park Pavilion, 2 East Cross Street, Ypsilanti, MI, 48198. Rain date is Sunday, May 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Riverside Park. This concert is free thanks to our generous sponsors the Bank of Ann Arbor, Dykema, and Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation Commission.  (Donations accepted) Golfcart transportation from downtown Ypsilanti to Riverside Park provided by The Michigan Firehouse Museum.
