Soccer: Skyline rebounds with 4-0 win over Lincoln (see WLAA-D photo gallery)

The Skyline boys’ soccer team bounced back from a 4-0 loss to rival Pioneer earlier in the week with an impressive 4-0 win Thursday over visiting Lincoln under the lights.

The Eagles dominated the action from start to finish, although the Railsplitters played hard and did create a few scoring chances.

“We probably should have had a few more goals,” said Skyline coach Chris Morgan. “We are definitely working on finishing for the next few practices.”

The Eagles did finish four times in the win.

Noah Silkworth had two goals, and Liam Duck and Shea Parker each had one goal for the winners. Preston Zabinko had two assists and Devin Palmer had an assist for the Eagles.

“As a whole, we did pretty well until we got into the final third, where we need to be better with the final pass and/or finishing opportunities,” Morgan said.

Skyline fell behind early to Pioneer and could never recover.

“The wheels fell off the bus, and we got a good beat down,” Morgan said. “It was tough going the whole day. We learned a lot from that game, and hopefully it prepared us going forward should we play them again.”

Another challenge awaits Skyline, who will host state-ranked Huron on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Eagles play at Monroe on Thursday.
