WLAA-D Concert Review: “Revolutions Live” tour rocks Pine Knob (See Photo Galleries)

The “Revolutions Live” tour made a pit stop in Detroit on Sept. 12 with an amazing show before a packed and loud house at Pine Knob Music Theatre. Shinedown was the headliner and didn’t disappoint with a rockin’ 19-song set that almost brought the hill behind the stage down.

The “Revolutions Live” US tour, which features an impressive support bill of Papa Roach and Spiritbox, began Sept. 3 in St. Louis and runs through an Oct. 20th show in Denver.

This show had more of a festival feel than a concert. People weren’t there just to see the headliner – they got three incredible bands for the price of one. And all three bands delivered. From the opening with Spiritbox just knocking off one ripping song after another to Papa Roach rocking to a huge fan base that helped fill Pine Knob to the incredible and high energy final set by Shinedown, the evening was metal mania.

Shinedown, from Jacksonville, Fla., was formed by singer Brent Smith in 2001. Smith, still under contract with record label Atlantic Records, recruited the band’s original lineup of Jasin Todd as guitarist, Brad Stewart on bass, and Barry Kerch on drums. Several lineup changes followed in the late 2000s with Smith and Kerch alongside Zach Myers on guitar and Eric Bass on bass.

Shinedown has released seven studio albums: Leave a Whisper (2003), Us and Them (2005), The Sound of Madness (2008), Amaryllis (2012), Threat to Survival (2015), Attention Attention (2018), and Planet Zero (2022).

The band has the most number one singles on the Billboard Mainstream Rock charts with 18, and all of their released singles have reached the top 5 on the chart. In 2021, Shinedown was ranked #1 by Billboard on the Greatest of All Time Mainstreams Rock Artists chart released to celebrate the Mainstream Rock Chart’s 40th Anniversary.

One fan stated: “Shinedown are to me what the Rolling Stones are to my dad and their shows are always awesome and get better every time.”
