Boys Cross Country: Pioneer edges Saline at SEC Jamboree 2, Dexter’s Anderson first overall 

Pioneer edged Saline at the finish line and Dexter’s Brandon Anderson finished first overall at the exciting SEC Jamboree 2 on Wednesday at Saline High School. The Pioneers took first with 41 points, just nine better than runner-up Saline. Dexter was a competitive third with 72 points followed by Huron (98), Bedford (126), Monroe (156) and Skyline (195).

Freshman Kamari Ronfeldt led the Pioneers with a second-place finish time of 15:11.2. Pioneer had two other runners crack the top five with senior Vincent Peterson Sand who was fourth (15:38.0) and sophomore Beckett Crooks was fifth (15:58.7). Senior Patrick Donoghue ran 14th (16:27.1) and sophomore Theo Sacks-Thomas was 16th (16:31.8).

Anderson, Dexter’s super fast senior, has finished top 10 in every race this season and is on pace to return to the state finals this November. He ran a PR time of 15:10.1 to take first on Wednesday.

The Dreadnaughts had two other runners place in the top 15. Junior Caleb Snyder was seventh in 16:05.1 and junior Julian Linebaugh was 12th in 16:25.4. Junior Scott Smith was 25th (16:51.2), junior Elijah Smith 31st (16:58.0), sophomore Cole Doty was 32nd (17:02.8) and senior Andrew Gafford was 33rd (17:06.4). 

 

Huron had four runners finish among the top 20. Junior Jonah Kraft was ninth (16:14.8), junior Walker Brose was 17th (16:36), senior Lucas Weintraub was 19th (16:39), senior Henry Beard was 20th (16:41.9 and senior Liam Ridenour was 37th (17:15).

Sophomore Bruno Cifaldi was 30th for Skyline in 16:57.4. Freshman Nicholas Yuan was 51st in 17:41.5.
