The Guild of Artists & Artisans with Gutman Gallery Announce Dreamland

ANN ARBOR – The Guild of Artists & Artisans (The Guild) is thrilled to announce its latest exhibition, Dreamland, an all media youth art exhibition in Gutman Gallery. The exhibition features dream-inspired works from Washtenaw County artists ages 5-17.

Dreamland will be on display in Gutman Gallery Oct. 6-29. The community is invited to experience the exhibition firsthand at an open house style reception this Friday, October 6 from 4-6pm. Join us in experiencing the exhibition, meeting some of the young artists, and enjoying light refreshments, including tea from our neighbors at TeaHaus. Follow along on our Facebook page for reception details, exhibition updates, and artwork highlights.

Dreamland was juried by guest juror, Susan Mankowski, local artist and art teacher. The exhibition features 52 works from 38 talented artists, representing a variety of styles and media. Among these works, the show includes “Emerging from my Dreams” a large ceramic shark by Lily Zocher; “Winter Mushrooms,” an oil pastel piece by Mila Dragovic; and “Recycled Material Manatee,” a mixed media cardboard piece by Greyson Tuxbury-Elliott.

Another featured artist, Sophia McKay, talks about her mixed media piece titled “Stuck in Dreamland,” saying, “My piece represents that feeling when you’re aware you’re dreaming, but can’t wake up. You’re trying to reach out of it, but you’re stuck in Dreamland.”

Throughout the duration of the exhibition, The Guild invites young creatives to the gallery for a Ceramic Clay Workshop with Barbara Melnik Carson and Irene Mokra (10/7), Dreamland Kids Yoga with Bethann (10/14), and a mural project during A2 Artoberfest presented by Destination Ann Arbor (10/28-10/29, more info to come). Some events require registration. For full event details and to sign up to participate, please visit our website.

Artist Pop-Ups will also continue on Saturdays in Gutman Gallery. Art-lovers are invited to visit the gallery on Saturdays to meet the artists behind the work and shop a wider variety of their art. Different gallery artists will be setting up shop each Saturday from 11a-5p. Follow along on Facebook and Instagram, where we will announce the line-up each week!

Gutman Gallery is thankful to its donors and community partners whose support makes this and other programs possible. A special thank you to our community partners: Vic Gutman & Associates, the Michigan Arts and Culture Council, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Ann Arbor Downtown Development Authority, Mammoth Distilling, and Dollar Bill Printing.
