Swimming & Diving: Skyline, Dexter shine at Division 2 State Finals

Two local teams flexed their muscles on Saturday at the Division 2 Swimming and Diving State Finals at the Holland Aquatic Center as both Skyline and Dexter had impressive performances in the pool against the elite D-2 teams in the state.

The Skyline Eagles landed in fourth place with 164 points, just eight behind third-place Northview and 12 ahead of Grosse Pointe South.

The Dexter Dreadnaughts had 37 points and finished 18th out of 36 teams that scored points.

Farmington Hills Mercy scored 326 points to run (splash) away with the state title. Birmingham Seaholm scored 198 points to finish second.

Skyline Coach Maureen Murrett was thrilled with how her Eagles managed the challenging waters of a state finals.

Skyline’s team of (L-R) Sofia Torres, Allie Deininger, Shannen Lee and Adrienne Schadler was 2nd in the 200 free relay.

In the medley relay, Dexter’s team of Kayce McAllister, Delaney Parker, Harper Brown and Grace McClellan finished 13th with a time of 1:51.85. The Skyline team of Britta Coultas, Sophia Nielsen, Julianna Peoples and Anika Vaitkevicius took 16th in 1:52.61.
