Boys Basketball: Dexter returns to win column with victory over Bedford

The Dexter boys’ basketball team outscored Bedford 22-13 in the first quarter and rode that early lead all the way until the final buzzer. The Dreadnaughts led 42-31 at halftime and scored a solid 72-60 win over the Kicking Mules on Friday in an SEC matchup.

“There were moments in this one where we looked like we would pull away and credit to them for battling and making runs of their own throughout the game,” said Dexter Coach Jason Rushton.

Jack DeMerell had a huge game for the Dreadnaughts with 28 points, 3 steals and 4 rebounds. DeMerell knocked down five triples in the first half.

Scott Smith added 14 points, Garrett Sharp had six points and Sammy Koch added five. Eleven different players scored for the Dreadnaughts.

Dexter hosts Huron on Tuesday and Saline on Friday.
