Boys Basketball: Dexter falls in three OTs to Lincoln

The Dexter boys’ basketball team took a big leap in the right direction despite another step into the loss column. Lincoln, one of the top teams in the highly competitive SEC, needed three overtimes to knock off the Dreadnaughts 69-64 on Tuesday night.

The big positive is the big picture.

“We have a lot we can build on from this game,” said Dexter Coach Jason Rushton. “It was a fight all the way until the end with a lot of big moments for both teams.”

In a roller coaster game with plenty of highs, lows and thrills, Lincoln led 13-11 after the first quarter and 26-22 at the half. The Dreads took a 38-37 lead into the fourth quarter. The game was tied at 50-50 after regulation, 53-53 after the first overtime and 60-60 after the second OT.

“This was a great game to be a part of on both sides,” said Rushton. “It didn’t matter what team you were cheering for in this one, each had their big moments and everyone battled hard until the very end.”

Haden Harm stepped up for the Dreadnaughts with a season-high 15 points along with three steals. Jack DeMerell added 13 points and two steals. Garrett Sharp continued his strong play with 12 points to go with six rebounds. Scott Smith added 11 points and seven rebounds and Ben Murphy had nine points and three steals.
