Election Reminders

Tuesday, February 27, 2024 Presidential Primary

An election for the Presidential Primary will take place on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Absentee ballots are now available. Absentee ballot application forms were mailed to residents on the permanent application list. For the Presidential Primary election only, voters must select on the application form which party’s ballot they would like to receive in order to receive a ballot.

Early Voting

Voters are now able to vote early in-person at a designated early voting site. The City of Dexter has entered into an agreement with Washtenaw County for the administration of early voting. City of Dexter voters will be able to vote early in-person for nine (9) days at Scio Township Hall, 827 N. Zeeb Rd. and the Washtenaw County Learning Resources Center, 4135 Washtenaw Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48108. Please note that the more traditional methods of casting a ballot, such as voting absentee or voting in-person on Election Day, are still available.

Early voting for the February 27, 2024 Presidential Primary will take place from Saturday, February 17th through Sunday, February 25th.

Easter Eggstravaganza

Egg Scramble

The Dexter Parks & Recreation Commission will be holding its annual Easter Eggstravaganza Egg Scramble on Saturday, March 30th in Community Park on Ryan Dr. Check-in will begin at 9:00am, with the scrambles beginning at 10:00am. Children 10 and under are invited to participate, with the kids being split into three groups, 0-3, 4-6, 7-10. Children will be able to get prizes, get their face painted, and meet the Easter Bunny!

Tickets will be on sale at Dexter City Hall located at 3515 Broad Street starting Tuesday, February 20th. Tickets are $2/child or $5/family with 3 or more children. Tickets will be available day-of, but pre-purchase is highly appreciated in order to estimate attendance.

Riddle Hunt

Another part of the Easter Eggstravaganza will be the Riddle Hunt, which will begin Saturday, March 16th. To participate, go to dextermi.gov/government/boards_and_commissions/pr.php and download the Riddle Hunt sheet (which will be available online on March 16th). Using the clues on the riddle sheet, families will track down a hidden Easter Egg in each of the City’s seven parks that will have a word printed on the back. Using the words, you will create a secret Easter phrase that you can bring back to City Hall (3515 Broad Street) to claim a prize! The last day to bring back the phrase will be Wednesday, April 3rd.


Dexter Art Gardens Temporary Sculpture Display

The “Dexter Art Gardens” is an annual outdoor artwork exhibition sponsored by the Dexter Arts, Culture & Heritage Committee and the City of Dexter. Up to five (5) temporary outdoor artworks will be juried and placed on temporary display along with the City’s permanent collection for one (1) year: June 2024 – May 2025. The selected pieces will be installed on concrete pads in prominent locations throughout Dexter. Applications may be submitted via the online Call for Entries platform, CaFE at: https://artist.callforentry.org/festivals_unique_info.php?ID=13020. Submitting an application via the CaFE site is free. The deadline for submissions is Monday, March 4, 2024. Artists will be notified in March regarding selections.

WCRC Road Projects and Detours

North Territorial at Dexter Townhall

The federal aid safety project at North Territorial Rd / Dexter Townhall Rd will be starting soon. The MDOT Contractor, Fonson Company, has stated their intention to close the intersection and commence construction operations on February 29, 2024. The intersection will remain closed for several weeks to accommodate the intersection improvements. Temporary detour signage will be posted in the City of Dexter.

Huron River Dr. Between N. Territorial and Chamberlin Rd.

On Monday, February 19, 2024, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will close Huron River Dr. between N. Territorial Rd and Chamberlin Rd in Dexter & Webster Townships to replace a crossroad culvert.

Miller Rd. Between Dexter-Ann Arbor and Zeeb

On Monday, February 19, 2024, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will close Miller Rd between Dexter-Ann Arbor Rd and Zeeb Rd in Scio Township to perform forestry work. The roadwork is expected to take approximately five days. However, all dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions.
