Track & Field: Dreadnaughts open SEC schedule at Pioneer

The Dexter track and field teams opened its SEC Conference season by traveling to Ann Arbor to take on the always strong Pioneers in a dual meet. The Pioneers defeated the Dreadnaughts 79-57 in the boys meet and 83.5-53.5 in the girls meet.

On the boys side starting off in the field events, Dexter swept the Shot Put with Cameron Clark taking first with a throw of 45’ 1”, followed by Jacob Alvarado with 40’ 10” and 3rd was Robert Karageorge with 40’ 6.5”. In the Discus, Karageorge was also 2nd with a toss of 122’ 9”, and Alvarado 3rd. At 105’ 7”. High Jump saw Kyle Gerharter winning with a jump of 6’ 1”, and Will Weiszhaar finishing 3rd at 5’ 6”.

Pole Vault went 1-2 with Clark Sheldon going 14’ 6” and Ben Sackman at 14’ 0”.

It was also a sweep in the Long Jump with Noah Boyce winning with a jump of 16’ 10.5”, followed by Joshua Burby at 16’ 10, and 3rd place by Braelin Greuling at 16’ 10” as well.

Boys races were led off by a 3rd place finish by Keaton Murphy-Walstad in the 100m with a time of 11.86, and another 3rd place finish by Francisco Morales-Leverett with a time of 24.58. Dexter placed two runners in the 400m with Elijah Smith in 2nd with 52.33, and Cold Doty 3rd with a time of 57.83.

Brandon Anderson won the 800m run, crossing the finish line with a time of 1:58.90, and took 3rd in the 1600m with 4:27.11. Morales-Leverett finished his open races by taking 1st in the 110 High Hurdles breaking the tape at 16.55. Dexter’s 4×100 relay with Braeling Grueling, Morales-Leverett, Noah Boyce, and Connor Kril won with a time of 47.27.

Girls

The Lady Dreads had strong performances in the field events as well. Starting off in the Shot Put, Lily Burns was 2nd with a throw of 31’ 7.5”, and Kera Root was 3rd at 29’ 10.5”. Root was also the winner in the Discus with a throw of
91’ 1”, and Burns 3rd at 78’ 6”.

In the High Jump Simone Kasischke was 2nd with a jump of 4’ 8”, and teammate Ainsley Davis tied for 3rd at 4’ 6”. Dexter swept the girls Pole Vault, starting with Raiden Kipfmiller winning at 10’ 6”, followed by Debbie McCoy at 10’ 0”, and Madelyn Simons at 8’ 6”. Rounding out the field events was a 1-3 finish in the Long Jump with Davis leaping 14’6.5”, and Simons at 13’ 5.25”

On the track, Kipfmiller also took 2nd in the 2oom dash with a time of 27.67.

The 400m had 2 Dexter places with Amelia Cribbins in 2nd with 1:05.31, and Vivian Hoffman at 1:07.36.

In the longer distances, Lillian Mitchell was 2nd in the 800m at 2:31.22, Kate Varitek winning the 1600m at 5:31.15, and Kodie Snyder in 3rd running 5:36.60. Snyder then won the 3200m at 12:08.90, while Varitek finished 2nd at 12:13.19. Wrapping up the Dexter placers was Kendra Conklin taking 3rd in the 300 Hurdles running a time of 58.38.
