Pioneer Crew Team Earns Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals in the Annual Laddie Cup Regatta

The Ann Arbor Pioneer High School crew team brought home medals in five events at Orchard Lake this past Saturday, May 4, at the annual Laddie Cup regatta hosted by St. Mary’s Preparatory School in Orchard Lake, Michigan.

The Pioneer team was one of 17 schools and clubs to participate. After preliminary heat trials in the morning, the fastest three boats in each heat were invited to participate in the afternoon’s final events on the 1,500-meter course, which accommodates up to eight lanes at a time. Pioneer rowers earned one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.

The day held beautiful rowing conditions–temperatures ranged from the upper 50s to the upper 60 with a mix of sun and clouds. Winds came from varying directions throughout the day between 5-9 mph.

A recorded live stream broadcast of the race from noon until finals is available here: https://www.youtube.com/live/q-l1bcXMXWc?si=MveivGdXUo3AoGzc
