Girls Track & Field: Pioneer finishes first at SEC Red league meet

The Pioneer girls’ track and field team outdistanced rival Saline on Thursday, May 9 at the SEC Red Division league meet. The Pioneers crossed the finish line with 158.5 points to edge the Hornets who took second with 134 points.

Huron was third with 94 points and Skyline took fourth with 72 points. Dexter was fifth with 64 points followed by Lincoln (52), Bedford (41) and Monroe (11.5).

Huron’s Aliyah Ferguson was second in the 100 meters in 13.10. Pioneer’s Olivia Rollins was fifth (13.38) followed by teammates Kalia Lawson (13.51) and Asiah Lee (13.66). Huron’s Daaiyah Abernathy was eighth (13.69).

In the 200 meters, Pioneer senior Maya Rollins took first in 25.38 followed by Skyline’s Alysia Townsend (25.73) and Huron’s Kate Huntzicker (26.48).

Ann Arbor dominated the 400 meters with Pioneer senior Rachel Forsyth taking first in 56.42 followed by Huron’s Kate Huntzicker (57.44) and Skyline’s Alysia Townsend (58.42). Pioneer’s Natalie Mello was fifth (1:00.93).

Forsyth won the 800 meters in 2:14.76 followed by teammate Syliva Sanok Dufallo (2:18.01). Huron’s Leena Shelgikar was sixth (2:23.36) and Skyline’s Ayla Balazer was seventh (2:23.49).

Sanok Dufallo, a senior, won the 1600 meters in 5:08.44 followed by Skyline’s Becca Van Lent (5:09.56) and Huron’s Lucinda Paliani (5:13.35). Pioneer’s Lydia Bowman was sixth in 5:16.61.

Pioneer’s Katie Hume was fourth in the 3200 meters in 11:25.19 and teammate Ava Griffith was sixth (11:56.28).

Ann Arbor athletes dominated the hurdle events. In the 100 hurdles, Pioneer senior Maya Rollins was first (14.83) followed by Huron’s Ferguson (15.61), Huron’s Maya Lobert (17.38) and Skyline’s Tynne Hannahs (17.43). In the 300 hurdles, Huron junior Taylor Hayward was first (48.59) followed by Skyline’s Teagen McCallion (49.37), Skyline’s Hannahs (50.63), Huron’s Lobert (51.50) and Pioneer’s Halle Bogle (52.94).

Pioneer’s 4×200 relay team of Kalia Lawson, Olivia Rollins, Asiah Lee and Maya Rollins took first place in 1:46.54. Huron was second in 1:47.15.
Pioneer’s 4×400 relay team of Sanok Duffalo, Bowman, Mello and Forsyth took first in 4:04.70. Skyline was second in 4:08.21.

Pioneer’s 4×800 relay team of Sanok Dufallo, Bowman, Mello and Forsyth took first in 9:16.12. Huron was third in 9:37.99.

Pioneer senior Yeina Han was first in the shot put with a throw of 35-3. Han took fifth in the discus with a toss of 90-10.

Skyline senior Alysia Townsend won the high jump at 5-4. Huron’s Kennedy Hutchings was second (5-2) and teammate Alena Adams was third (5-0). In the pole vault, Pioneer’s Natalie Mello was third (10) and Skyline’s Bryn Christensen was fourth (9-6). In the long jump, Pioneer’s Valentina Carcassi was second (14-7).
