The Guild of Artists & Artisans with Gutman Gallery Announce 200 Exhibition

ANN ARBOR – The Guild of Artists & Artisans (The Guild) announces its latest exhibition, 200, an all media exhibition showcasing work that celebrates Ann Arbor’s bicentennial. The exhibition, juried by local landscape artist, Nancy Flanagan, features work that represents Ann Arbor’s past, present, and future, with subjects that include Ann Arbor landmarks, community, icons, and more! A portion of the artwork in the show was created during The Guild’s Paint Ann Arbor 200 Plein Air Event in April. The exhibition kicks off with an opening reception on Friday, May 17 from 4p-7p and will be on display through June 29, 2024.

200 features work from 32 talented artists, representing a variety of styles, techniques, and media. The show includes “Catching Fireflies,” an urban sketch by Andrea Lozano ; “At the Michigan,” an oil painting by Jill Stefani Wagner; and “TRAFFIC II,” acrylic, charcoal, and collage on canvas by Thomas Rosenbaum.

“The Flow of Time” by Amy Roehrig is a ceramic piece constructed from 200 pieces of clay. “200 pieces of clay illustrate 200 years of history. The ebbs and flows. The moments and eras. All depicting the passage of time, the whole of which informs the present.”

The community is invited to experience the exhibition firsthand at the open house Friday, May 17 from 4p-7p. Attendees can meet some of the artists and enjoy live jazz from Take Note, a duo by Hanna Kharchenko and Aidan Kupina, music students at Wayne State University. Attendees can also enjoy wine, tea, and desserts from our generous opening reception partners – SolSummit Wine, TeaHaus, Sweet Heather Anne, and Zingerman’s. During the opening reception, one of the works will be awarded a purchase award and will be gifted to the city of Ann Arbor, made possible by our generous patrons, Dave and Barbara Carson.

Visit Gutman Gallery’s 200 Facebook event page for opening reception details, exhibition updates, and artist highlights.
