Boys Track & Field: Local teams run to top five finishes at Regionals (SEE WLAA photo gallery-150 photos)

The three Ann Arbor schools finished in the top five in the 15-team field on Friday at the boys Division 1 Track & Field Regionals hosted by Lincoln. Saline finished first with 112 points followed by Belleville with 100 points. Huron was third with 87 points, Pioneer took fourth with 73 points and Skyline was fifth with 52 points.

Huron’s Jackson Hayward was third (22.22) and teammate Ashton Brann fourth (22.42) in the 200 meters.

Skyline senior Henry Shaieb won the 400 meters with a time of 48.06 followed by Huron sophomore Kinley Poole (48.19). Skyline’s Leland Weiser was fifth in 50.50.

Pioneer senior Eric Overdier won the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.87. Teammate Quinn Davis was sixth (2:00.94) and Huron’s Henry Beard ran seventh (2:01.11).

Overdier returned to the winner’s circle in the 1600 meters after running a first-place time of 4:20.28. Skyline’s Mason Jett was third (4:23.72), Pioneer’s Vincent Paterson-Sand was fourth (4:23.94) and Huron’s Lucas Weintraub was sixth (4:33.50).

Pioneer freshman Kamari Ronfeldt won the 3200 meters with a time of 9:25.10. Skyline’s Luke Suliman ran second in 9:31.69. Pioneer sophomores Beckett Crooks (9:39.31) and Theo Sacks-Thomas (9:51.44) ran fourth and fifth.

Huron’s Jackson Hayward was fourth in the 110 hurdles in 14.60.

In the 4×100 relay, Huron’s team of Georgio Pitts, Brandon Graham, Kinley Poole and Elijah Hayward finished second and qualified for the state finals with a time of 42.71.

Two local relay teams qualified for the states in the 4×200 relay with Huron’s team of Pitts, Hayward, Poole and Graham taking third in 1:28.60 and Skyline’s team of Leland Weiser, Ayden Schlecht, Emanuel Morrell-Weston and Henry Shaieb finishing fourth in 1:29.07.

Skyline’s 4×400 relay team of Weiser, Morrell-Weston, Jett and Shaieb finished first with a time of 3:24.65.

All three Ann Arbor teams qualified for the state finals in the 4×800 relay. Pioneer’s team of Peterson-Sand, Liam Bredeweg, Quinn Davis and Eric Overdier finished first in 7:53.87. Skyline’s team of Kyle Krasan, Adam Repp, Suliman and Jett took second in 7:58.62. Huron’s team of Henry Beard, Walker Brose, Thomas Conley and Francisco Dura took fourth in 8:01.71.

In the discus, Pioneer’s Jack Van Ryn was third with a throw of 139-1.

Huron dominated the high jump. Defending state champion Andrew Harding cleared 6-8 to finish first. Huron’s Charlie Garner was third (6-6) and teammate Camron Dew was fourth (6-2) as all three qualified for the states.

Huron senior Charlie Garner won the long jump with a leap of 22-3.
