CTN took home the Overall Excellence in P.E. or G. Access Award
Ann Arbor ─ Community Television Network (CTN) received a National 2024 Hometown Media Award from the Alliance for Community Media Foundation. The awards program was established to honor and promote community media, community radio, and local cable programs that are distributed on Public, Educational and Governmental (PEG) access cable television channels.
CTN won first place in the category Overall Excellence in P. E. or G. Access (Public, Education or Government). The entry was a compilation of the best of their 2023 programs, which included clips from PSAs, promos, CTN series, CTN Sports, special events, community partners, government meetings, and public access, highlighting the best in PEG Media. Since 1973, CTN has provided free television production workshops to residents and non-profit organizations and created local cable programming about the Ann Arbor community. CTN is one of the oldest access television operations in the country and has experienced a dynamic and productive existence.
CTN Assistant Manager, Melissa Bondy stated, “I knew this category was for us; the scope of what our team covers in a year is both impressive and amazing. The recognition reflects upon the talents of our entire staff, and this is truly a staff award.”
Each year, nearly 1,000 entries are submitted. These entries, or programs, are submitted and evaluated on several factors resulting in over 100 award winners. A panel of over 150 judges from the industry evaluate the entries. Awards are presented to the most creative programs that address community needs, develop diverse community involvement, challenge conventional commercial television formats, and move viewers to experience television in a different way.
