The Saline boys’ cross country team had six runners finish in the top 14 and ran away with the SEC Jamboree No. 1 at Willow Metropark on Sept. 10. The Hornets finished with 43 points.
Dexter (105 points) ran second and Pioneer (115) finished third in the 13-team event held on a warm and sunny afternoon. Huron finished with 137 points and took fifth overall while Skyline ended up with 163 points and took seventh place.
The Dreadnaughts had an amazing afternoon with two runners crossing in the top seven. And the seniors shall lead them. Senior Julian Linebaugh was fifth in 16:38.6 and fellow 12th grader Caleb Snyder was seventh in 16:42.9 for the Dreadnaughts.
Dexter sophomore Coen Hill ran 29th in 17:46.2, Landon Whitehead was 30th in 17:49.2, Matthew Casavant was 36th in 18:01.6 and Nicholas Reiser was 37th in 18:02.9.
Pioneer junior Beckett Crooks took first overall with a winning time of 16:12.98. Three other Pioneers cracked the top 25: Quinn Davis was 16th (17:11.5), Theo Sacks-Thomas was 21st (17:29.9) and Walker Ledbetter was 22nd (17:32.5). Leroy Li was 57th in 18:48.4 and Cooper Ankeney was 66th in 19:06.5.
Huron had two runners cross in the top 15 with senior Walker Brose (10th, 16:58.0) and senior Jonah Kraft (15th, 17:10.4). Jamal Samaha was 28th (17:44.9), Francisco Dura was 38th (18:06.0), Thomas Conley was 50th (18:27.8) and Soren Stone-Palmquist was 70th (19:10.4) for the River Rats.
Sophomore Nicholas Yuan led the Eagles across the finish line with his 20th place time of 17:29.8. Bruno Cifaldi was 25th (17:41.7), Enshu Kuan was 32nd (17:52.6), Jack Robichaud was 40th (18:12.2), Zeke Lafferty was 51st (18:29.1), Gustaf Finn was 52nd (18:29.2), Oscar MacArthur was 54th (18:36.7) and Martin Gehrke was 59th (18:49.7) for Skyline.
