The Pioneer boys’ cross country had the top three finishers at the SEC Jamboree No. 2 on Tuesday but it was Saline that crossed the finish line first in the team event. The Hornets had six runners finish in the top 25 and landed with 49 points to beat out Pioneer. The home team had 60 points and finished second overall.
Dexter ran a strong race and finished third with 77 points. Skyline was fourth with 101 points and Huron finished seventh with 166 points.
It was all Pioneer at the top of the leaderboard. Sophomore Kamari Ronfeldt won the race with a time of 15:46.7 followed by teammates Beckett Crooks, a junior, in 16:27.50 and junior Theo Sacks-Thomas in 16:36.10.
Pioneer also had strong runs from junior Quinn Davis (14th in 17:16.7), sophomore Cooper Ankeney (46th, 18:45.1), freshman Grayson Crooks (47th, 19:05.5) and sophomore Leroy Li (49th, 19:11.7).
Dexter landed two runners in the top seven. Senior Caleb Snyder was fifth with a time of 16:39.8 and senior Julian Linebaugh was seventh in 16:47.0.
Four other Dexter runners cracked the top 30 with sophomore Coen Hill 18th (17:30.40), senior Landon Whitehead 20th (17:32.8), sophomore Nick Martens 27th (17:52.2) and freshman Nicholas Reiser 30th (17:59.1). Junior Cole Doty was 33rd (18:09.0), senior Matthew Casavant was 34th (18:10.2), senior Scott Smith was 39th (18:18.4) and sophomore Hudson McCleskey was 45th (18:42.30).
The Eagles had five runners finish in the top 25 led by sophomore Nicholas Yuan (15th, 17:20.7) and junior Bruno Cifaldi (19th, 17:32.2). Sophomore Matthew Guikema was 21st (17:39.10), freshman Oskar MacArthur was 22nd (17:39.4), and senior Jack Robichaud was 24th (17:46.6). Freshman Martin Gehrke was 32nd (18:07.8), junior Zeke Lafferty was 40th (18:20.6), sophomore Enshu Kuan was 42nd (18:29.5) and sophomore Dylan Hanley was 44th (18:33.3).
Senior Walker Brose led the River Rats with his eighth-place finish time of 16:49.0. Junior Thomas Conley was 29th in 17:56.5, junior Francisco Dura was 38th in 18:17.5, senior Soren Stone-Palmquist was 54th in 19:33.5 and sophomore Johan Kim was 56th in 19:42.3.
