Swimming & Diving: Pioneers cruise past Tecumseh in SEC dual-meet

The Pioneer girls’ swimming and diving team continues to splash along in the win column. The defending Division 1 state champions made easy work of Tecumseh in an SEC dual-meet with a 149-33 win on Tuesday.

Pioneer won every event, including all three relays.

The team of Katelyn Van Ryn, Jayla Kuzak, Meg Pinkerton and Ava Griffith won the medley relay in 1:52.46.

Cecilia Walusek won the 200 free in 1:55.18 with Megan Bigelow in second (2:08.04) and Violet Wilkening in third (2:09.30).

The Pioneers swept the 200 IM with Ursula Ott in first (2:07.42), Kuzak in second (2:08.99) and Reese Heidenreich third (2:10.4) and the 50 free with Cecilia Cook first (24.41), Amani Sanogo second (25.38) and Harper Feyen third (26.65).

Pioneer’s Lisa Pando Rasia won diving with 203.5 points. Cecile Piffaretti was third with 151.55 points.

Pioneer swept the butterfly with Yahanna Silva Castro first (1:00.58), Elizabeth Kamara second (1:01.71) and Yan Ling Adler third (1:03.37) and the 100 free with Van Ryn first (53.39), Maisie Weyhing second (55.92) and Pinkerton third (56.08).

In the 500 free, Walusek touched first in 5:05.76 for her second win of the meet. Suryn Lee was second (5:18.42) and Harper Feyen was third (5:21.32).

The Pioneer team of Heidenreich, Silva Castro, Adler and Kamara won the 200 free relay in 1:43.23.

Cook returned to the winner’s circle with her first-place time of 58.47 seconds in the backstroke. Kuzak was second in 59.49 and Bridgette Kamara was third in 1:00.0.

In the breaststroke, Lee swam a winning time of 1:07.02. Heidenreich was second in 1:07.41 and Olivia Tharp was third in 1:17.06.

The Pioneer team of Sanogo, Cook, Ott and Walusek was first in the 400 free relay in 3:37.59.
