ANN ARBOR – The Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MIOCA) will host a 5K and Fun Run awareness event, Time to Teal, on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 11th, 2025 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The family-friendly event includes a timed 5K race starting at 8:00 AM, and a 1-mile Fun Run at 8:10 AM. Both events welcome runners and walkers, and take participants through scenic downtown Ann Arbor. Registration is now open at mioca.org.
Currently, there is no reliable early detection test to screen for ovarian cancer, and symptoms of the disease can often be overlooked or mistakenly attributed to other conditions. In recognition of World Ovarian Cancer Day, observed annually on May 8th, this event serves to raise visibility, foster community connection, and generate funds for ovarian cancer research and programming.
Participants of this event can look forward to:
● 5K chip timing and finisher medals
● Awards to top 5K finishers
● Fun Run treats
● Fundraising, top finishers, and team spirit prizes
● Post-race gathering at The Grotto
● Option to “Stay Home for a Cure”
Time to Teal plays a crucial role in MIOCA’s broader mission to increase understanding about ovarian cancer throughout Michigan communities. Inspired by MIOCA co-founder Pam Dahlmann, who lost her mother to the disease, this event brings together family and friends to celebrate the remarkable women in our lives, while honoring those affected by ovarian cancer.
