ANN ARBOR – Garrett’s Space is thrilled to announce that it has been selected to receive 2025 funding through the Washtenaw County Community Mental Health and Public Safety Preservation Millage.
In Michigan, suicide continues to be the second-leading cause of death for young people aged 15 to 34. Dedicated to reducing suicides and filling gaps in supportive care, Garrett’s Space currently offers free, weekly virtual facilitated support groups and wellness programming to help young people build community with their peers and find pathways toward hope.
Millage funding will allow Garrett’s Space to increase options for in-person wellness activities and support groups in 2025 and develop day programming that will be offered when its residential campus is constructed.
“We’ve witnessed first-hand the dearth of supplemental resources available in our health care system to support young adults struggling with their mental health,” said Scott Halpert, Garrett’s Space President and Co-founder. “We are grateful to Washtenaw County and its voters for the opportunity to expand our services to strengthen our community’s behavioral health programming and provide more support to young adults in need.”
The millage has been renewed for an eight-year extension, approved by nearly 70% of Washtenaw County voters in November 2024 and will continue to support access to care and behavioral health services until 2034.
