Girls Basketball: Eagles earn split during rivalry week against Huron, Pioneer

The Skyline girls basketball team faced both city rivals last week and earned a split against Huron and Pioneer.
 
Skyline at Huron

Skyline played at Huron and came out with a convincing 45-31 win to get to a 5-4 record to this point of the season. Huron scored the first 3 points and then Skyline turned up the full court defensive pressure and was able to build a 17-9 first quarter lead.

Skyline would continue to build the lead in the 2nd and 3rd quarters while also not converting many makeable shots inside the paint. Skyline continued to play solid defense overall forcing many turnovers to secure the win.

Freshmen twins Sadie and Jane Jordan had great games. Sadie had 14 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Jane had 12 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Faith Palmbos and Gabi Arocha each had 6 points. Abby Yuan had 4 points and 5 rebounds. Alex Strauss 2 points and 7 rebounds.

Skyline at Pioneer

Skyline played at Pioneer and got off to a rough start going down 14-2 to start the game with some turnovers and missing opportunistic shots. The young Skyline team would then settle in and gain confidence and was able to finish the first quarter down 16-8.

In the 2nd quarter each team scored 13 points. In the 3rd quarter each team scored 5 points. Skyline got off to a very nice high energy momentum start in the 4th quarter to cut the lead all the way down to 34-31 with about 5 min left in the 4th quarter. Pioneer would convert a couple important baskets and then make enough free throws to get the win 43-34.

For Skyline Jane Jordan had 10 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Sadie Jordan had 8 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Zoie Reichert had 10 points and 4 steals.  Faith Palmbos had 6 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist. Abby Yuan had 7 rebounds.
