City Council recently approved an amendment to the Peddlers, Solicitors, and Transient Merchants Ordinance to implement a Solicitation Opt-Out Registry. Residents of the City of Dexter are now able to register themselves for the Opt-Out List by visiting and submitting the form below. Residents interested in signing-up for the Solicitation Opt-Out Registry should be aware of the following:
– This list is valid for City of Dexter residents only. Township residents are not eligible to apply for this list.
– This list does not apply to, and the City cannot prohibit, door-to-door activity by political organizations, religious organizations, citizen activist groups, or other organizations performing activities protected by State or Federal law.
– If a hawker, peddler, or door-to-door merchant visits your home and you have signed-up for the list, please contact the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office at 734-994-2911.
– Door-to-door permits issued to-date are not impacted by this list. Only one has been issued that is not impacted: Weed Man Lawn Care of Ann Arbor, and their permit is valid until April 12, 2025.

Farmers Market Applications
The Dexter Farmers Market is accepting applications for this year’s Farmers Market season. The Dexter Farmers Market is located on Alpine Street between the Dexter District Library and Mill Creek Park North and is open May – October, every Saturday from 8am to 1pm. The Tuesday Farmers Market will be back at the Alpine St. location and will be held from June – September, from 11am to 3pm. Opening Day for the Saturday Market will be Saturday, May 3, 2025.

Job Opening – Finance Director/Treasurer
The City of Dexter’s Finance Director/Treasurer will be retiring in July 2025 after more than 20 years of service with the City. The City of Dexter is seeking interested and qualified candidates to train with the current Finance Director/Treasurer until her retirement, allowing for a smooth transition into the role.
The Finance Director/ Treasurer serves as the chief financial officer of the City in accordance with City Charter, Federal, State and Local Law. Under direction of the City Manager, the Finance Director/Treasurer plans, organizes, and directs all activities of the Finance Department including accounting, budgeting, auditing, and treasury operations. The Finance Director/Treasurer manages administrative staff activities relating to finance and treasury services.

Committee Opening – Board of Review
The City of Dexter is seeking one (1) City resident to serve as a member of the City’s Board of Review. The Board of Review hears and determines appeals along with certain other matters concerning real and personal property assessments and/or classifications. The Board of Review is one of the only opportunities in which a taxpayer may appeal before taxation on their real and/or personal property. The Board of Review has three (3) periods during the year in which its work must be complete based upon statutory mandates; they are the March Board of Review, July Board of Review, and December Board of Review.
