UMS February events includes two events with Jazz legend Branford Marsalis

Ann Arbor — The University Musical Society (UMS) is thrilled to announce a captivating lineup of seven diverse performances packed into the shortest month of the year. Featuring world-renowned musicians and innovative theater, UMS remains committed to bringing the finest in performing arts to Ann Arbor.

“We are incredibly excited to present such a varied and exciting program in February,” said UMS Director of Programming Mark Jacobson. “From jazz legends like Wynton and Branford Marsalis to the innovative artistry of Third Coast Percussion, multiple performances of Natalie Palamides’ renegade theater work, and the captivating performance of Seong-Jin Cho, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”

Comedian Natalie Palamides offers an exploration of toxic masculinity in her unique take on stand-up, Nate – A One Man Show (Wed, Feb 5-9, Arthur Miller Theatre). Celebrated pianist Seong-Jin Cho honors Ravel’s 150th birthday in an extraordinary program featuring the composer’s complete works (Fri, Feb 7, Hill Auditorium).

The following weekend brings asses.masses, an engaging seven-hour video game performance experience that blurs the line between gaming and live art (Fri-Sat, Feb 15-16, Stamps Auditorium).

Jazz legend Branford Marsalis offers audiences two memorable programs: an energizing jazz set with his reliable quartet (Wed, Feb 19, Michigan Theater) and a collaborative chamber performance featuring University of Michigan community members (Fri, Feb 21, Rackham Auditorium).

To close out the month, Third Coast Percussion will captivate audiences with a celebration of percussive arts, showcasing a new commission by and in honor of the late Zakir Hussain (Sun, Feb 23, Hill Auditorium). Full details on these events and more are included below. Tickets and additional information are available at ums.org.
