YPSILANTI — Eastern Michigan University’s Fashion Marketing Innovation (FMI) program is set to host its highly anticipated annual Portfolio Show on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the EMU Student Center, room 300, located at 900 Oakwood St. in Ypsilanti.
Designed as a capstone experience for students in the Senior Portfolio course, the Portfolio Show is a dynamic platform connecting emerging fashion professionals with leading industry companies. Attendees can network, explore potential career paths, and secure internships or job opportunities. Organized by faculty members, the Portfolio Show has become a hallmark event that showcases student talent and fosters professional growth.
Dr. Julie Becker, professor and director of the Textiles Research and Training Institute, and Holly Mosher, full-time lecturer, oversee the event and are eager for this year’s showcase.
“As we prepare for this year’s show, we are excited to leverage our industry relationships to create meaningful opportunities for our students,” said Mosher. “Watching our students develop their skills and launch their careers is incredibly rewarding, and this event plays a crucial role in their professional journeys.”
Since its inception in 2013, the FMI Portfolio Show has engaged with over 20 employers annually. Many of the participating students secure jobs or internships through the event, with some receiving offers even before the showcase due to strong industry partnerships.
The Fashion Marketing Innovation program at EMU equips students with career-focused expertise in textile science, product design, analytical buying, and manufacturing. Committed to bridging education with industry, the program ensures graduates are well-prepared for success in the fashion sector.
